Before 1996, he was a legal professional at a large state-owned enterprise in Shanghai. After 1996, he joined a law firm founded by the Legal Affairs Office of the Shanghai Economic Commission as a professional lawyer. In 2005, he joined Shanghai Huisheng Law Firm and has been working there ever since.
